A small correction for the German translation needed here - concerning 7.5cm L.F.K. 18 (Leicht Feld Kanone 18) and 7.5cm L.G. 40 (Leicht Geschutz 40). Here we should use in German exactly the word "leicht" that means "light as class" instead "leucht" that still means "bright" and usually using for tracer designations. Obviously both words been mixed up.

Hey! I know this is late, but do you have any information on ammunition used for the le.IG 18? I know for a fact it had Hollow Charge rounds and High Explosive rounds, but what about smoke? And are there any details on the lethality of German smoke mixtures compared to the phosphorous-based smoke of the Allies and Soviets? Thanks in advance!

According to German Artillery of World War Two by Ian Hogg, the le. IG 18 has 6 different projectiles, or otherwise types of ammunition. The smoke projectile was the 7.5cm I Gr Deut. It weighed about 6 kilograms, produced a cloud of blue smoke for target identification and had similar performance to other rounds of comparable weight (A.K.A. similar to the original HE round).
